Digital Marketing and Traditional Marketing
The infographic below presents a visual dive into the effectiveness of digital marketing and traditional marketing. This isn’t to make a case for discounting traditional marketing and media, as those channels are still effective today. Instead it illustrates the return value of each for consideration of a marketing budget. In today’s digital age, digital marketing is more effective as well as significantly cheaper based on ROI. However, without the proper content, strategy, and distribution considerations spending on digital marketing for the sake of digital marketing is a waste of valuable assets (why integrated marketing works so well). The internet is a crowded and noisy place seeking the attention of users, regardless of the medium. Both the content and strategy have to be valuable, from the customer’s perspective. Without the customer’s engagement, regardless of the quantity what you can expect is a) clicks without engagement or b) ignored and lost in the “click me” noise. Worse yet, an empty click leaves the customer feeling time was wasted, which results in loss of credibility. That’s followed by lack referrals and recommendations, as well as any chance to win the customer again.
